Unreasonable Premiums and Misleading Representation Prevention Act and Subcontract Act

We provide legal services in the area of the Subcontract Act and the Unreasonable Premiums and Misleading Representation Prevention Act, each an important area of law that affects the business of our clients and one with respect to which the Government of Japan and relevant enforcement authorities, the Japan Fair Trade Commission and the Consumer Affairs Agency, have a strong enforcement policy.

Such services include, among others, those related to (a) advice on business activities, (b) de-facto leniency applications, (c) investigations by competition authorities, whether the Japan Fair Trade Commission or the Consumer Affairs Agency, (d) advice on corporate crisis management, such as disclosure of investigations, and (e) disputes involving activities in violation of those Acts.

Our antitrust/competition law practice is unique and highly respected in that we have antitrust lawyers who possess in-depth expertise in, and highly specialized knowledge of, the Subcontract Act and the Unreasonable Premiums and Misleading Representation Prevention Act. Our lawyers routinely provide services concerning these Acts in cooperation with lawyers who are experts in other areas of law, e.g., litigation, as well as lawyers in our Corporate Crisis Management groups who are experts in those areas.
