Aya Motomura joined the firm in 2002. Her practice focuses on asset management and securities and financial services regulations, as well as on real estate related matters including real estate funds, real estate financing, real estate securitization and Japanese REIT (J-REIT). She also worked as a government official at the Financial Services Agency from 2009 to 2012 where she was engaged in the revision of the Financial Instruments and Exchange Law, the Securitization Law (TMK Law), the Investment Trusts and Investment Corporations Law, the Law Concerning Specified Joint Ventures of Real Estate, and other financial laws.
She received an LL.B. degree from the University of Tokyo in 2001 and an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School in 2008. She was admitted to practice in Japan in 2002 and worked at the New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP from 2008 to 2009.
