On January 1, 2000, we established the Law Offices of Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, a law firm dedicated to meeting the legal problems arising out of today's complex business activities by combining the individual talents of many lawyers to offer legal services of the very highest quality.

In recent years, the legal needs of businesses, both domestic and foreign, have grown tremendously in breadth and complexity. Within Japan itself, the traditional system of business management based upon advance governmental administrative guidance has met with increasing criticism. Businesses are now finding themselves increasingly forced to make and assume responsibility for their own decisions made based upon their own interpretation of existing law. Critical to meeting the needs of our clients in such an environment is the ability and flexibility to immediately organize teams consisting of a multitude of lawyers possessing specialist knowledge and experience in various practice areas to swiftly advance our clients' interests.

In order to be able to offer high quality legal services, the fostering of lawyers with skills to meet our clients' needs in every specialized legal field is very important. To be able to offer our clients comprehensive legal services, the achievement of a critical firm size is indispensable. Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu was the first law firm in Japan to surpass the 100-lawyer milestone. Since that time, in order to meet the needs of today's society, we have continuously striven to ensure the highest caliber of lawyers and other human resources. The result is that as of August 1, 2008, we have 303 lawyers (inclusive of foreign-licensed lawyers) and a total of 636 members. Of course, advancement of the quality of the service we are able to offer to our clients is this firm's singular purpose for growing in size.

At Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, we are continuously striving to improve the skills and performance level of our firm's members through such educational arrangements as the firm's overseas law school studies program, through the placement of our lawyers for independent research and studies either in Japan or overseas, through firm-sponsored regularly scheduled internal study sessions, and through our specialty practice group structure. We utilize cutting-edge information technology to centralize and exploit the collective knowledge, skills and databases of our members, with all firm members constantly striving to offer the highest quality legal service possible.
