Biography
Satoshi Inoue is a partner at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu.
Mr. Inoue received an LL.B. from the University of Tokyo in 1988 and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1994. He is admitted to the bar of Japan (1990-present).
Mr. Inoue advises both Japanese and non-Japanese clients, including financial institutions, on structuring and arranging banking, securities, trust and other financial transactions as well as financial regulations and compliance matters based upon the latest supervisory trends. In addition, he has a wide range of experience in the reorganization of financial groups, financial institutions’ scandal/crisis management, and bankruptcy/business turnaround.
Mr. Inoue started his career with Nagashima & Ohno (1990), becoming a partner in 1998. Before becoming a partner, he was seconded to Sullivan & Cromwell (1994-95) and the Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies, the Bank of Japan (1996-97). Afterwards, he served as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo School of Law (2010-13) and a member of the Working Group on Regulatory Framework Applicable to Banks of the Financial System Council (2012-13). Currently, he is a member of the Financial Law Board (1998-present); a board member of the Securitization Forum of Japan (2007-present); a board member of the Japan Association of the Law of Finance (2015-present); a board member of the Japanese Association for Business Recovery (2015-present); an advisor to the Financial Services Agency as a Financial Policies Monitor (2016-present); the Chairman of the Oversight Committee of the JBA TIBOR Administration (2020-present); and a board member of the Financial Lawyer Forum (2020-present).
