Antitrust/Competition Law Advice

We have been providing legal services in the area of the Antimonopoly Law of Japan, an important area of law that closely relates to the business of our clients, since the establishment of our firm, as well as the Subcontract Act and the Unreasonable Premiums and Misleading Representation Prevention Act.

Such services include, among others, those related to (a) advice concerning the business of our clients, such as business transactions and business alliances (e.g., advice on business policies, contract terms and trade association activities, and prior consultation with the Japan Fair Trade Commission), and (b) activities undertaken to comply with those laws (e.g., preparation of compliance programs, seminars for officers and employees, and legal audits).

Our antitrust/competition law practice is unique and highly respected in that we have antitrust lawyers who possess in-depth expertise in, and highly specialized knowledge of, the antitrust/competition law of Japan as well as solid knowledge of the antitrust/competition laws of various overseas jurisdictions, including experience in communicating and liaising with competition authorities. Our lawyers routinely provide services concerning antitrust law in cooperation with lawyers who are experts in other areas of law, e.g., intellectual property. Further, in cross-border cases, we provide legal services based not only on our own extensive knowledge of the antitrust/competition law of Japan and that of overseas jurisdictions, but also in cooperation with well-regarded overseas antitrust lawyers who provide high-quality services.
