Since the launch of our Singapore Office (Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu Singapore LLP) in January 2013, we have established a multinational structure consisting of lawyers qualified in Japan and multiple Southeast Asian countries to meet the growing legal needs of Southeast Asian jurisdictions.
The Singapore Office now has approximately 20 lawyers qualified in seven countries (Japan, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Myanmar) and plays a central role in the firm’s Asian practice. Our Tokyo Office and Asian offices collaborate in a closely integrated manner. This approach enables us to provide legal services seamlessly across multiple jurisdictions in connection with international commercial transactions. We are also committed to strengthening our network with leading law firms in the respective Southeast Asian countries to provide the most appropriate structure for our clients that aligns with the nature and scale of their transactions.
The Singapore Office has two main divisions: (i) Corporate & M&A and (ii) International Dispute Resolution. The Corporate M&A Division handles various matters, including cross-border M&A, joint venture formation, misconduct and crisis management, real estate development and investment projects, energy and infrastructure projects, finance, labor issues, and competition law in Asian countries. The International Disputes Division handles a wide variety of cross-border disputes, focusing on international arbitration cases, which have increased in recent years in Singapore, widely recognized as a dispute resolution hub in Asia.
