Antitrust Litigation

Since the establishment of our firm, we have been providing legal services in the area covering the Antimonopoly Law of Japan as well as the Subcontract Act and the Unreasonable Premiums and Misleading Representation Prevention Act.

Such services include, among others, those related to (a) internal investigations of conduct in violation of those laws, (b) leniency applications, (c) investigations by competition authorities, whether the Japan Fair Trade Commission or any other competition authorities outside Japan, (d) administrative/judicial proceedings regarding the decisions of competition authorities, and (e) litigation involving antitrust/competition issues, including damages claims and derivative suits against the management of the defendant companies.

Our antitrust/competition law practice is unique and highly respected in that we have antitrust lawyers who possess in-depth expertise in, and highly specialized knowledge of, the antitrust/competition law of Japan as well as solid knowledge of the antitrust/competition laws of various overseas jurisdictions, including experience in communicating and liaising with competition authorities. Our lawyers provide advice that requires multi-faceted analysis in cooperation with our lawyers who are experts in other areas of law, such as corporate, labor, litigation and corporate crisis management in a seamless manner. Further, in cross-border cases, we take the lead based on our own extensive knowledge of both Japanese and foreign antitrust/competition laws, while providing high-quality services in cooperation with trusted, first-class overseas antitrust lawyers.
