Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu (“NO&T”) actively engages in public interest activities and other activities to fulfill an extremely important social responsibility as a law firm: the protection of fundamental human rights and the realization of social justice.

The Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu Human Rights Policy (the “Policy”) is based on the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights” and the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and it reflects our commitment to respecting human rights in order to fulfill our responsibilities to all our stakeholders.

Positioning of Policy

The Policy is positioned as the primary policy governing NO&T’s commitment to respect for human rights in all its activities.

Scope of Application of Policy

The Policy applies to all lawyers and staff of NO&T. NO&T also requires its business partners and suppliers to comply with the Policy.

Responsibility to Respect Human Rights

NO&T fulfills its responsibility to respect human rights by ensuring that its activities do not violate the human rights of those affected by its activities and by implementing appropriate measures to address any adverse human rights impacts that may result from its activities.

Education and Training

NO&T regularly provides appropriate education and training to ensure that all lawyers and staff understand and effectively implement the Policy.

Communication and Consultation with Stakeholders

NO&T is committed to engaging in sincere communication and consultation with stakeholders in implementing the Policy. As a law firm, we will also leverage our expertise and experience in handling human rights issues to make efforts to continuously improve respect for human rights.
