Awards
The award ceremony for the FT Innovative Lawyers Asia-Pacific Awards 2023 hosted by the Financial Times (FT) was held in Singapore on May 4, 2023, and Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu (NO&T) was named as the winner of the “Innovative Lawyers in Creating a New Standard” category.
This award recognizes the unprecedented and innovative nature of the tax litigation matter at the Supreme Court of Japan (Decision dated March 11, 2021) where the team led by Mr. Yushi Hegawa represented the taxpayer and secured a complete victory, in that the Decision compelled the administrative branch to rectify its tax regulations (Corporation Tax Cabinet Order) and the enforcement practice in a manner to penetrate the rule of law principles.
The firm was also recognized as a standout in the “Innovative Lawyers in Facilitating Global Business” category for its services provided to Japanese companies dealing with human rights risks, led by Ms. Ayumi Fukuhara.
In addition, the firm was shortlisted for the “Innovative Law Firm in Asia-Pacific” category.
