Our London office (Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu UK Limited) commenced operations on 11 August 2025.

The London office is headed by Kiyoshi Honda, who has extensive experience in handling outbound transactions involving the United Kingdom and continental Europe, with a particular focus on matters relating to renewable energy, environmental law and real estate. Mr. Honda holds an LL.M. from University College London Faculty of Law.

In addition, Tak Matsuda, who has practiced at leading U.K. law firms and is currently practicing at his own law firm as a Solicitor in England and Wales, will serve as a special advisor to our London office.

Our London office team works closely with the members of our European Practice Group in Tokyo and our network of leading law firms in the U.K. and across the European continent. The London office extensively covers matters related to continental Europe as well as the U.K. Leveraging its position as a local contact point within the European time zone, the London office provides high-quality and timely legal services in connection with various Europe-related matters.

Practice Areas of the London Office

Our London office, headed by Kiyoshi Honda, specializes in handling energy projects, including those related to renewable energy, environmental law-related matters (such as decarbonization, EU REACH regulatory compliance, and PFAS-related matters), as well as real estate transactions, in which Mr. Honda has particular expertise.

Additionally, our London office, in close collaboration with our European Practice Group, covers various practice areas including M&A, competition law, foreign direct investment (FDI) and foreign subsidiaries regulation (FSR), capital markets, data protection (including GDPR), technology law (including AI regulations), product safety and regulatory compliance, environment, social, and governance (ESG) and business and human rights, as well as tax. The European Practice Group mainly comprises over ten (10) partners from various practice areas, each with extensive experience in handling Europe-related matters.
