Kei Nakajima is a partner at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu. He commenced his academic career in natural sciences at the University of Tokyo, subsequently transitioning to the field of law. He earned an LL.B. from the Faculty of Law in 2006 and a J.D. from the University of Tokyo School of Law in 2008. In 2016, he obtained an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Following that, he worked at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP in New York from 2016 to 2017 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2017. In 2024, he was appointed as an examiner for the Small and Medium Enterprise Management Consultant certification examination. Since 2025, he has served as an adjunct lecturer in civil law at the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law.

Mr. Nakajima’s practice is wide-ranging and includes general corporate matters and advisory services. He has extensive experience in litigation and dispute resolution, handling various disputes in areas such as finance, real estate, system development, crisis management, corporate misconduct, and administrative matters.

Additionally, leveraging his background in natural sciences, Mr. Nakajima provides legal services in intellectual property and technology law. He handles both domestic and international disputes in IP law, including patent law, copyright law, unfair competition prevention law, trademark law, and design law, and has particular experience in representing clients in patent infringement lawsuits and patent invalidation trials. His practice also extends to matters involving IT and AI, licensing, joint research and development, employee inventions, anti-counterfeiting measures, freedom-to-operate opinions, and data and trade secret protection, among others.
