Background
On 1 August 2021, six months after the announcement of State of Emergency in February, Myanmar military government established a Republic of Union of Myanmar caretaker government by Order No.152/2021 (“Order”) which was issued by the State Administration Council (“SAC”). Under the Order, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has been appointed to lead the caretaker government as a prime minister until State of Emergency is lifted by August 2023. In the meantime, the military government continues to issue the new regulations despite the ongoing political situation and a severe third wave of COVID -19 infections in the country. This article summarizes some of the recent legal changes that have been issued by the military government in the country.
